Aujourd Hui…

Is it okay to have your breakfast on the river?

Is it okay to take that plate of fruit, muesli, and yogurt up to the shaded porch when the morning sun gets too hot on your shoulders?

Is it okay to linger over that breakfast for nearly two hours while watching the water flow by, and the lizards catch flies, and the white butterflies flutter and dance, and the dogs trot back and forth, their heads held high?  Is that okay?

Is it okay to put on your prettiest dress, and then instead of going anywhere, kick back on the bed with your headphones on, and the French doors flung open?

Is it okay to lie there and listen to music for a long time, a smile on your face, and your fingers tapping your book, while the sun rises higher and higher in the sky?

Is it okay to finally get up and go into town, just to paint colorful cards for the people you love while you sip on coconut juice?

Is it okay to spend 100 baht on dog treats at 7-11?

Is it okay to write by the river, as the sun begins to set and the air considers turning cool?  Is that alright?

And is it okay to eat every bite of your phad thai dinner, and finish it up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream?

Would it be alright then, to walk back to the cottage, slide the curtains closed, strip down to your underwear and dance to Jimi Hendrix?

I hope so, because that is precisely what I did today, and it felt terrific!!!
