Another Monsoon Day

Thunder growls like an impatient stomach
Rain hammers down on my roof
The clothesline’s useless- rain drips from it
The trees in the garden stand assaulted, aloof

Rain hammers down on my roof
The diamond-shaped windows are fogged, blurry
On the floor, a pair of Punjabi elf shoes
Stylish, but going nowhere in a hurry

The diamond-shaped windows are fogged, blurry
Boxes of incense are stacked on the shelves
A soft green blanket, folded, furry
A rainbow umbrella rests against the far wall

Boxes of incense are stacked on the shelves
The clothesline’s useless- rain drips from it
A rainbow umbrella rests against the far wall
Thunder growls like an impatient stomach
